Works on rail lines in the Mallee have commenced. New concrete sleepers and piles of stones have been left at various places in readiness for the rail upgrade.

Crews have been preparing the alterations from broad gauge to standard gauge; rail crossings and sections at points and crossovers will be done when equipment to alter them is in the area.
