Garden Walk
26 Oct 13
What a great day was had on Friday 25th October when over 100 ladies from Underbool and surrounding districts attended the Underbool Primary School’s Garden Walk. Organised as a major fund raiser by Pennie Wisneske and Amanda Hayter for the Parents and Friends, 10 local gardens were open for display on the day.
The weather was perfect for the drive to 3 farm gardens out of town and to wander around Underbool township visiting the 7 town gardens.
Gardens that were visited were: Farm Gardens – Neil & Kathy Jackson, Colin & Diane Aikman and Philip & Colleen Aikman. Town Gardens – Robert & Colleen Gloster, Greg & Dot Brown, Ricky & Melinda Lynch, Doug & Helen Gloster, Matt & Kristen Brown, Michael & Helen Brown and Geoff & Wendy Lockett.
Registrations were taken and maps distributed at the school at 9am and then morning tea (scones with jam and cream) was served at Philip & Colleen Aikman’s garden at 10.30. Lunch of sandwiches and fruit salad was served at the school at 12 noon and afternoon tea of beautiful cakes and slices was served at Ricky and Melinda Lynch’s later in the afternoon. It was then back to the school for raffles, garden plant sales and thank yous.
Visitors travelled from as far as Manangatang and Pinnaroo and everywhere in between and everyone had a fantastic day out.
The day raised a profit of $2,100.00 for the school which will be put to good use.
