Urgent Care testing: Everyone who presents to our Urgent Care Centres in Ouyen and Sea Lake will now be COVID-19 tested using RATs (rapid antigen tests), depending on the clinical urgency of the situation. This is in line with the approach taken by Ambulance Victoria (i.e. everyone is COVID-19 tested on transfer between health services). This is a very important strategy in managing COVID-19 in our facilities and within our communities.
Visiting aged care: All visitors to aged care will now be tested for COVID-19 using RATs. This is in line with Victoria’s pandemic health orders. To help visitors with this, we will supply RATs and encourage people to test at home. Visitors are ask to only visit our aged care facilities once each day and always call ahead– so that we can assist and support a safe visit to our aged care facilities. Again, this is in line with Victoria’s pandemic health orders.
District Nurse services: What do we offer? Whether you or your loved ones are recovering from a recent operation or illness, have recently left hospital or need specialised treatment, you can engage our highly skilled district nurses for one-off, short term or regular support.
Nurses provide a comprehensive range of nursing support to people, their carer’s and other support persons of all ages within a person’s home or other agreed location.
District Nurses are able to provide:
- Nursing care according to persons needs
- Advice and support for carers and families
- Referral to other health services when required
- Support or education to manage illness
- People requiring assistance with medication management
- Wound care management
Community availability: District Nurses are based in Ouyen and Sea Lake but are available to eligible people who live in smaller towns such as Underbool, Walpeup, Murrayville and Patchewollock, on an outreach basis depending on the person’s needs.
How to access this service: MTHCS receives funding from a number of different sources to provide services. To find out if you're eligible, discuss how we can meet your needs or to book an appointment with the district nurse, call the Ouyen Service Centre on (03) 5092 1111
