Presentation of historic medallions to Underbool community - An Invitation to you
J.F. & M.A. Cotter were among early pioneers in Underbool who played important roles in the community. Mr Cotter established a store in Underbool in 1911, initially operating as a tent store in the railway yard. Mr Cotter was also Underbool’s first appointed Post Master and operated this service from 1914 in his store on the main street.
Son Gordon Cotter, served in WW1 and after his return, was presented with 2 medallions for his service, one of which was given to him by the citizens of Underbool.
Mr J.F. Cotter’s great grandson Ross was entrusted with these medallions some 50 years ago, after Gordon’s death, and Ross would now like to present these historical medallions to Underbool to be kept in our war service history collection.
Ross along with his sister and their partners have also decided to undertake a fundraising walk from Renmark (where his family and his grandmother Jennie Cotter had lived) to Underbool, via Mildura and Ouyen, in honour of Jennie. The money raised will be given to the Sunraysia Salvation Army towards work with women escaping domestic violence.
Ross has advised that the family walking team plan to arrive in Underbool around 10.30am on Saturday 15th March to hand over the medallions to the community.
You are invited to come to the Underbool Linga Hall Saturday 15th March, 2025, 10.30am to join in this presentation and morning tea together. Please bring a small plate of food to share.
An RSVP to Rosemary 0428946394 or Joan 0427946310 would be appreciated if you are planning to attend so that you can be notified just in case there is a significant change to Ross’s scheduled arrival (NB estimated time may vary a little depending on the walking team).

We need your help for the Underbool Swimming Pool Funding Submission.
As you may be aware, our community were unsuccessful in our previous submission for our new swimming pool facility. We are now applying for the next round of funding, and we need to seek approval from Mildura Council to submit an application and secure funding.
Our current pool was built by our community many years ago (1970's) and it’s vital we keep advocating for funding to ensure our amazing pool stays in our community. It's definitely ready for some TLC!
We understand that not everyone is available at any one time, so please use this link to the survey here: Underbool Pool Community Feedback Survey
