Watch Out for Trains

Saturday 17-August:
It will be the first standard gauge passenger train to operate along the remote outback branch line from Ouyen to Murrayville to explore the spectacular Murray-Sunset National Park.

The Vinelander will take the path less travelled, venturing west where few trains operate along Victoria’s most remote branch line - the 109km link between Ouyen and Murrayville taking in the sights of Walpeup and Underbool.

As this is an Underbool home game for football and netball, we would like to advise all the community to be aware of the train coming through.  We also encourage everyone to safely greet and welcome the train as it passes through our town.

2024 Mildura LGA Planning Scheme Review Round 2 Community Engagement – Commencing Soon!

We’re continuing our work to review the Mildura Planning Scheme – an important document that guides land use and development across our region. We want to share some of our findings so far, while gathering more information from locals about how they envisage our region should look 15 years into the future.

Visit the team to learn more about the results of our engagement so far at the Ouyen Service Centre between 3pm to 4:30pm, Friday 2 August.

You can find out more about the Mildura Planning Scheme review at yoursay.mildura.vic.gov.au/PSReview24.

THE LONGEST TABLE

It has been 8 years since the last Girls Night In had been held in Underbool.  We thought it would be a good idea to do something a little bit different.  The Longest Table was something thing that seemed like a fun idea to get the ladies together while raising funds for a great cause.

21 ladies attended the lunch held at the Rec Ground on Sunday. The theme of the day was Italian and the food shared was just like eating in an Italian restaurant or even Italy itself.  We really do have some great cooks amongst us.  There was a lucky door prize and numerous raffles drawn on the day.

We would like to thank everyone that donated goods for the raffles, those that gave donations towards the fund raising, the ladies for the beautiful food and those that attended the day.  Also, thanks to the Underbool Rec Ground for the use of the pavilion.  Due to everyone’s generosity we were able to raise $1316 for The Hospital Research Foundation Group.

MRCC Rural Outreach Library

The next visit to Underbool will be on Tuesday 23rd July, 11am – 1pm. Everyone is invited to join us for a cuppa and chat from 11am. This months topic will be ‘Winter’.

Reminder -  Please enter through the west door.

 Pink Lakes Pantry Bakery Delivery

A big thank you to Diane, Kate and Francey who collected the bakery order from Ouyen and delivered it to the shop over the school holidays.

Jo is back at work and will be delivering the order by 9am on Mon, Wed & Fri during the school term.

 Pink Lakes Pantry Paper Delivery

We are still in contact with the Ouyen Newsagency regarding the weekend paper delivery and they are working on the problem with the new contractor, however there is still no outcome for this weekend. We have decided to travel to Ouyen on Saturday to pick up the Herald Sun and the Sunraysia Daily, however we have CANCELLED SUNDAY 21/7 PAPERS.

It seems too much to ask a volunteer to travel to Ouyen on Sunday for 10 Herald Suns!

We thank everyone who has helped by picking up the weekend papers, firstly from Walpeup and recently from Ouyen.

If you are able to do a Saturday pick up from Ouyen please contact Colleen on 0407 946376.

Hopefully we may have a more favourable outcome by the following weekend (fingers crossed!!).
