Underbool Bowls News
Football season is right on the doorstep which heralds the wind-up very soon of the 2013- 14 bowls year for Underbool Bowls Club.
Last Wednesday saw a small number participate with Marie Cummings(s), Janet Lynch and John Cummings the eventual winners of the 3 game competition. Saturday's social bowls was better attended with Robert Pole(s) Colin Aikman and Veronica Stone taking home the winner's tickets.
The bowling green had all rinks in use for Sunday's mixed fours competition. Teams from Bowls Sunraysia, Workers, Wentworth, Merbein, Ouyen, Hopetoun, Irymple, Red Cliffs and one from Underbool vied for the prizes on the day which were generously donated by Alan and Debbie Vallance from Ouyen and Terry Wright of Wright's Recycling Irymple. The cool weather made for a pleasant bowling day with much good bowling observed in the four games of 10 ends. The winning team from our neighbouring club Ouyen was the only winner of four games. The team, Terry Pitcher (s), Sue Kelly, Rob Hanns and Lorraine Shaddock proved to be a very popular win; congratulations to them on a fine effort. Runners-up were from Red Cliffs; Fred Francis(s), Marg Dominelli, John Vuik and Brenda Linsay, congratulations to them also. We trust all will return to Underbool when the event is held next season.
President Bernadette Stone thanked the sponsors who help our club immensely with their financial support; thanks were also extended to the green keeper John Cummings and Green's Committee. As usual the catering committee ably supported by club members excelled with the delicious meal and afternoon tea that were provided. Overall a very successful and happy day for all in attendance.
This Wednesday is the Hens & Roosters Chook Night- roll up to participate by 6.30pm. Names to Robert or Ray Gloster. Saturday 29 March is Wind-up day when all trophies will be presented to the winners for the season. The afternoon competition will be sponsored by President Bernadette Stone and Stan along with Ev and Jim Elliott. Players a salad please for the evening meal to follow; we look forward to great turn out for the season finale.

Have your say on the future direction and projects, for your community to work on!
